The High Impact Tutoring Difference:
Orton-Gillingham is my passion. For the last seven years I have tutored students using The Orton-Gillingham Approach and the principles of structured literacy.
I am a certified member of The Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators and Dyslexia Interventionist for The International Dyslexia Association. Throughout both practicums I have logged over five hundred contact hours with dyslexic learners as well as struggling readers.
I also am a Certified Teacher NYCDOE and have a Masters Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages in which I use my literacy background to close the gap between language development and literacy skills.
I continue to seek out the most advanced and cutting edge practices in the field of structured literacy to meet the unique needs of my students.
Just as no learner is the same, no lesson is the same. Each lesson is uniquely made for the individual learner. A multi modality approach is used to meaningfully impact literacy growth.
The Orton-Gillingham philosophy is based on a technique of studying and teaching language. The approach focuses on an understanding of the nature of human language ,the mechanisms involved in learning, and on the language-learning process in individuals.
